BROOKLYN - A fire started at about 3 a.m. in a three-story building on Broadway in Bed-Stuy.

Residents say they were woken up by someone yelling about a fire on the third floor.

Neighbors say the gas and electric were turned off in the building as the crews battled the fire.

Officials say it took about 39 minutes to get the fire under control. They have yet to comment on what started the fire.
