BROOKLYN - Firefighters responded to an apartment fire in Brooklyn Wednesday.

They say it happened on Belmont Avenue around 8 p.m. 

Although firefighters had the fire under control in about 40 minutes, residents say there is a lot of damage. 

One resident says their entire home was destroyed. 

The cause of the fire is unknown.
