Fire destroys Feeney's Pub on 5th Avenue in Sunset Park

An early morning blaze destroyed a Sunset Park bar and forced several neighbors to flee their homes. Three firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling flames

BROOKLYN - An early morning blaze destroyed a Sunset Park bar and forced several neighbors to flee their homes.

Three firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling flames at Feeney's Pub on 5th Avenue, near 62nd Street, at around 3 a.m. The fire chief says it started in the building's basement and spread quickly.

Crews evacuated nine people who live above the pub in the three-story building, but they were all able to return home a short time later.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
