BROOKLYN - Officials are investigating the cause of a Bushwick apartment building fire that claimed the life of a teenage girl Monday morning.

Authorities say 17-year-old Sophia Olivo was trapped on the second floor and was unable to escape. The five other victims suffered minor injuries while they escaped the flames.

Fire officials have confirmed that the fire started on the first floor, where a gas canister was found. Investigators have deemed the fire suspicious.

According to the building?s owner, no one was living on the first floor because of upcoming renovation plans.
