Fire rips through Brooklyn lounge; 1 firefighter injured

BROOKLYN - A two-alarm fire tore through a lounge in East Flatbush Saturday morning, sending a firefighter to the hospital.

Officials say the blaze started at around 9:00 a.m. inside the A & L Seafood and Cocktail at 4410 Avenue H. According to Fire Chief David Jakubowski, firefighters arrived on the scene within 3 minutes and attacked the flames in the basement and on the first floor. It took 55 firefighters more than 30 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Owners of the lounge who were at the scene of the blaze say the building was under construction and was not open to the public.

According to fire officials, the blaze started in the ceiling or the floor of the basement. The exact cause of the fire has yet to be determined.

One firefighter suffered minor injuries and was taken to Kings County Hospital.
