BROOKLYN - Many residents were forced to evacuate a multi-family apartment building after a fire broke out Sunday morning.

Fire officials say the blaze started at around 7 a.m. on the fourth floor kitchen of the city Housing Authority building located at 1400 Bergen St. in Bedford-Stuyvesant.

Firefighters were able to douse the flames before they spread to the rest of the building, but the apartment where it started was severely damaged.
