Firefighters battle 2-alarm fire on Ocean Avenue

BROOKLYN - A two-alarm fire at an Ocean Avenue apartment building has left several Midwood families without a home tonight.

More than 100 firefighters battled the fire, which began at around 1:45 p.m. Officials say the fire started on the first floor and made its way up to the second floor.

According to fire officials, a 3-year-old was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, but is expected to be OK. They say a couple of firefighters were also treated for minor injuries.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
