First-ever gay pride celebration held in Bed-Stuy

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT - Many Brooklyn residents came out today to Von King Park in Bedford-Stuyvesant for a gay pride celebration for persons of color.

The first-ever celebration was sponsored by the Audre Lorde Project.

The event also featured many local businesses hoping that the gay and lesbian community will feel welcome in their stores.

Organizers say they hope the celebration will allow the gay and lesbian community to feel safe and celebrated in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
