BENSONHURST - A Bensonhurst family is recovering after a fire forced a mother to throw her children from a window to neighbors Thursday.

Fire marshals credit quick-thinking neighbors with saving the mother and her five kids from the top floor of their Bay 50th Street apartment in the early morning hours. Authorities are investigating the blaze, which they have deemed suspicious. The family was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK.

Authorities say another family on the ground floor of the row house escaped unharmed.
