Former cop pleads guilty to vehicular manslaughter

(09/08/10) BROOKLYN - The former police officer accused of hitting and killing Vionique Valnord, the daughter of a Brooklyn pastor, pleaded guilty today.

Andrew Kelly accepted a plea deal for second-degree vehicular manslaughter. He was sentenced to 90 days in prison which will be followed by five years probation.

Kelly was arrested, but a sobriety test was not administered until several hours after his arrest, resulting in negative results. Kelly said today that he was drunk and Valnord's family says it is happy with the plea.

Kelly will begin his sentence on Sept. 24.
