BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn educator is trying to draw attention to the need for healthy food options in Crown Heights.

Solomon Long says he's going to bike in the Tour de Brooklyn and hopes to raise about $30,000 to fund farmer's markets in the neighborhood. Long retired from his job as principal of P.S. 91 and now runs Seeds in the Middle, a program to help kids live healthier, more active lives.

He says kids in the borough have few options outside of convenience stores and fast foods restaurants.

The race will take place on June 1, and Long says he's accepting as many donations as he can until then.
