Former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa talks with BK Little Leaguers

CONEY ISLAND - Former Mets pitcher Nelson Figueroa visited a Little League team in Coney Island this afternoon to speak out against violence in city neighborhoods.

Figueroa, a Brooklyn native, spoke to the team, The Coney Island Boys, about the importance of staying off the streets and focusing their attention on productive activities like baseball.

Figueroa also donated new equipment to the team, saying he would rather see them on the fields than anywhere else. He also sponsored the team so they can play through the fall ball season.
