BROOKLYN - A forum was held today at Long Island University to help guardians in kinship families.

The Brooklyn Grandparent Coalition says there are around 55,000 caregivers in Brooklyn taking care of younger siblings, grandchildren or nieces and nephews.

The forum offered information about the dangers of gangs and how to get funding for college tuition.

Organizers say many grandparents often don't know where to go for support when raising grandchildren.
