Fourth of July weekend kicks off in BK

Brooklyn residents are starting their Fourth of July weekends with sun, sand and of course, fireworks.Residents say they plan to visit family and attend barbecues

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents are starting their Fourth of July weekends with sun, sand and of course, fireworks.

Residents say they plan to visit family and attend barbecues in the area. Many plan on going to local beaches. The famed Nathan's hot dog eating contest will be held this weekend in Coney Island with champion Joey Chestnut defending his title.

The 35th Annual Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks will be held over the Hudson River this year at 9:20 p.m. The best viewing spots are through the west side of the city and New Jersey.
