BROOKLYN - Two local lawmakers in Bay Ridge took a break from passing laws this weekend so they can help their constituents stay fit.

Dozens of Brooklyn residents turned out Saturday to participate in "Yoga in the Park," a free series of yoga classes offered in Shore Road Park.

State Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis and Sen. Marty Golden not only took part in the class, but are spearheading the series. They say the idea came about after it was offered on Staten Island to help alleviate stress many were enduring after Superstorm Sandy. Its success there gave them the idea to bring it to Brooklyn.

For those who missed out, two more classes will be offered in August.
