Funeral held for 11-year-old asthma attack victim

(09/01/10) BROOKLYN - The 11-year-old girl who died of an asthma attack while on her way to the hospital was buried earlier today.

Brianna Ojeda died Friday after her mother tried rushing her to the hospital by driving the wrong way on a one-way street. Police say she was stopped by Officer Alfonso Mendez, of the 84th Precinct. Her mother says the officer would not perform CPR and it was too late for Ojeda when she arrived at the hospital.

The funeral included white horses, a white carriage and a white casket. Hundreds of people came out to pay their respects to Brianna.

Authorities say the officer has been suspended without pay for failure to take proper police action.
