Funeral held for 13-year-old killed in weekend crash

BROOKLYN - More than 100 people gathered in Borough Park today to say goodbye to the 13-year-old girl killed in a car crash Saturday.

Sarah Erdan died when the van she was riding in jumped a curb, hit a tree and crashed through the front steps of a Marine Park home.

Family and friends silently walked Erdan's casket down the street during the funeral at the Shomrei Hadas Chapel.

Police say the 16-year-old driver of the van was speeding and only had a learner's permit. She has been arrested and is facing several charges, including reckless driving and criminally negligent homicide.
