BROOKLYN - As part of National Adopt a Shelter Pet Month and Pit Bull Awareness Month, a representative from Animal Care and Control of NYC visited News 12 with two 1-year-old dogs.

Last week, two dogs featured in News 12 were adopted by viewers.

Animal Care and Control says that prospective pet owners should expect that adopting is a commitment for the life of the animal.

The majority of the center's population are pit bulls, however this breed is not allowed in NYCHA Housing.

The center has adoption counselors to interview prospective owners and help them find the right pet.
