WILLIAMSBURG - A suspected gas leak this afternoon in Williamsburg sent up red flags following yesterday’s fatal explosion in East Harlem.

Police blocked off 161 Rodney St. after they got a call at around 2 p.m. Thursday. Emergency officials had to evacuate about 25 people.

National Grid came on the scene to investigate and determined there was a leak in the service line pipe that leads into the building. They are working with the building's owner to replace the pipe.

Police released the evacuation order at around 3:45 p.m. Thursday as National Grid workers determined that there was no immediate danger.

No one was injured and the situation has returned to normal.
