GERRITSEN BEACH - The Gerritsen Beach Fire Department is lending a helping hand to get the borough back on its feet nearly two weeks after Superstorm Sandy.

The fire department has been coordinating volunteer efforts as well as collecting food, water and clothing.

Volunteers say the turnout has been incredible.
