GERRITSEN BEACH - Gerritsen Beach residents say sprinklers and poor drainage at a local park have left a children's play area in ruins. According to a viewer video, sprinklers can be seen flooding parts of Dr. John's Park. Once the water recedes, the protective rubber mats become strewn with mud and leaves.The Parks Department released a statement saying that park plumbers investigated and cleared a blockage in the drainage system last month. Officials say they will follow up immediately to investigate and attempt to clear the drainage line again.
