BROOKLYN - A group of Brooklyn residents who are whizzes with household items is helping others to save broken things from ending up in the trash. The Fixer's Collective in Gowanus is a group of amateur fixers that holds monthly repairs sessions. For a $5 donation, anyone can bring in a household item for repair. Those who attend are taught how to make the repair themselves. The group has set up a website with more information about what it does and when it meets.
