BROOKLYN - Some Brooklyn residents are bracing for serious headaches as one of the borough?s pedestrian bridges has closed.

Beginning today, the bridge that allows pedestrians to cross from one side of the Gowanus Expressway to the other will be closed for three months.

During that time, not only will the deck of the bridge be replaced, but the steel substructure as well.

Residents who use the bridge frequently say the closure will add more time to their commute. Pedestrians will have to walk to Hamilton Avenue and Clinton Street, then walk underneath the Gowanus Expressway.

The bridge is expected to reopen Oct. 1.
