Grand Army Plaza gets makeover

BROOKLYN - Brooklyn's crown jewel, Grand Army Plaza, is showing off its million-dollar makeover.

The facelift, which for the most part is now complete, boasts new crosswalks, concrete dividers and traffic lights. The Department of Transportation (DOT) initially also wanted a protected bike lane - similar to one on Prospect Park West - but faced opposition from some people in the area.

DOT officials say there are no set plans for Plaza Street and they will take community input into consideration.
