RICHMOND - (AP) - The federal government is unveiling a newplan to snuff out tobacco use, including new larger, graphicwarning labels for cigarettes that include images of corpses,cancer patients, and diseased lungs and teeth.

The Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday announced newefforts to reduce tobacco use, which is responsible for about443,000 deaths per year.

The plan is part of the law passed in June 2009 giving the FDAauthority to regulate tobacco.

The new labels will be finalized by June and cigarette makershave 15 months to comply.
