Greenfield wins 44th district election

(AP) - David Greenfield, an attorney and formercampaign staffer on Joe Lieberman's presidential campaign, has beenelected to the New York City Council.The special election Tuesday

NEW YORK - (AP) - David Greenfield, an attorney and formercampaign staffer on Joe Lieberman's presidential campaign, has beenelected to the New York City Council.

The special election Tuesday was held to fill the Brooklyn seatvacated by Simcha Felder.

Felder left to work for the city comptroller.

Greenfield had won a number of high-profile endorsements,including New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg. With all precinctsreporting, Greenfield has 58 percent of the vote, followed by JoeLazar, with 40 percent. Republican Kenneth Rice has 3percent.

Greenfield will serve for the rest of the year. The seat is upfor election again in November.
