Greenpoint residents rally against another homeless shelter

GREENPOINT - Greenpoint residents are rallying against another proposed homeless shelter in their neighborhood.

Residents say the previous organization backed out, however, they say a new orgnization, Bowery Resident's Committee, has taken up the proposal to run a men's homeless shelter out of 400 McGuinness Blvd.

Residents say the new owners mean business since they already bought out the building's tenants.

The Bowery Resident's Committee says despite its intent, it does not get to make the final decision.  It says city officials will have to decide whether or not the building can become a shelter.
