Gymnastics gold could grow sport in Brooklyn

BROOKLYN - Gym owners in Brooklyn say U.S. Olympics success this summer could lead to more aspiring gymnasts in the borough.

The U.S. women's gymnastics team took home team gold and Gabby Douglas won individual gold in London at the 2012 Olympics.

Ella Sharma, owner of Brooklyn Gymnastics and Dance in Brighton Beach, says that the Olympics will likely mean there will be more gymnasts in the building come fall. Sharma says many of the calls come from parents wanting their young children to take classes.

The young students at the gym say that watching the U.S. team triumph is inspiring them to reach for future gold.
