Hail comes down on parts of Brooklyn

NEW YORK - (AP) - Hail rained on some parts of New York City andLong Island during a lightning storm that also caused some streetflooding.

The National Weather Service says penny-sized hail fell inBrooklyn Heights around 8:40 p.m. on Monday. Larger, quarter-sizedhail was reported on Long Island, in Long Beach.

The storm also brought lots of lightning and heavy rain. Theweather service says 1.13 inches of rain fell on Central Park.

Street flooding was reported in some parts of Brooklyn,specially in Park Slope where water ran into some basements.

Most of the storm had moved out of the area by midnight. Lightrain continued into the morning Tuesday, with clearing expected bythe afternoon.
