Halloween events, construction cause for weekend congestion

BROOKLYN - Local events and construction projects could cause some major traffic headaches this weekend.

There will be congestion around Prospect Park for several Halloween events throughout the weekend, including a haunted walk and carnival.

The Queens-bound side of the Midtown Tunnel will have one tube closed starting at 11 p.m. Friday and lasting until 2 a.m. Monday morning. The remaining tunnel will take on two-way traffic. The same change happened last week on the Manhattan-bound side, and caused extreme delays.

Alternate side parking rules will be suspended for the entire weekend, but meter rules will still apply.

Track work is also suspended on mass transit in preparation of Hurricane Sandy.
