BROOKLYN - Hanukkah arrived early for some families in Kensington as celebrations kicked off over the weekend.

The organization Chai Lifeline held its annual gala on Sunday to help families dealing with long-term illnesses and children with disabilities.

Kids enjoyed a variety of dishes at the event, including a giant donut pyramid. Organizers say it's important to give the families a day to be uplifted as the holiday approaches.

Hanukkah officially begins at sundown tomorrow.
