BROOKLYN - A group in Brooklyn held its fifth annual walk-a-thon Saturday to raise awareness for teen dating violence.
The event, hosted by the Healing Center, attracted people of all ages.
Antonia Clemente of the Healing Center says one in every three teens will be a victim of some form of violence.
The center hoped people would walk away knowing that prevention is key.
"We do know that we have inter-generational violence and so it really starts at the home," said Maria Santiago. "We really want to encourage parents to check themselves, figure out and model positive behaviors so that their teens can learn what a healthy relationship is."
