Heavy rains further erosion at Plumb Beach

BROOKLYN - Two days of torrential rain in Brooklyn has caused more erosion concerns at Plumb Beach.

In the past, strong winds and high surf have eaten away at the shoreline and bike path. In December, the city brought in thousands of sandbags to prevent further erosion, but the latest string of storms has only created more problems.

Parks and Recreation officials say they're lucky they put in sandbags when they did or the erosion could be even worse. They plan to repair the damaged beach and bike path when the weather improves.
