Hispanics Across America president pushes plan to arm bodega owners

BROOKLYN - The president of Hispanics Across America sat down with News 12 Brooklyn today to discuss the group's new push to arm bodega owners.

Fernando Mateo says the group is handing out gun applications to qualified bodega owners after Juan Torres was killed by a robber while working at his store in Queens last Saturday.

Mateo says he's received an outpouring of support from the community and store owners. He says as citizens, the men have a right to protect themselves and own a gun if qualified.
