Historic theater to become charter school

BROOKLYN - The historic Loews Pitkin Theater has been repurposed into a home for a state-of-art charter school and shopping center.

The theater on 1501 Pitkin Ave. will be home to a K-8 charter school operated by Acsend Learning.

Financing for the project was provided through Goldman Sachs' Urban Investment Group along with the Seedco Financial Services, Inc. and the Nonprofit Finance Fund.
