BROOKLYN - Officials are encouraging Latinos to get tested for HIV saying the results could help save lives.

Latinos represent 17 percent of New York's population but account for 32 percent (40,400) of all New Yorkers currently living with HIV/AIDS. Many agencies that serve the Latino population are offering free testing as well as educational material.
