BROOKLYN - A man who was driving a van for a homeless services company was shot and killed in Borough Park in what's being called a senseless act of violence.

The shooting happened around 12:30 p.m. at 46th Street and New Utrecht Avenue in Borough Park.

Police say the 36-year-old victim was shot multiple times in his chest. He was transported to Maimonides Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

The victim, who has not been identified, was driving a van for Win Homeless Services. The company says he was taking a client to an appointment to complete a housing application.

"We cannot begin to express the sadness this incident brings to our organization, its staff, and our clients," Win Homeless Services' president said in a statement. "Out of an abundance of caution, Win has suspended all operations of our vehicle fleet and enhanced our security protocols at all of our facilities throughout New York. Win is working with the NYPD to help in their investigation and ensure that the  perpetrators of this heinous crime are held accountable."

Police say two suspects left the scene in a red vehicle with plate number NY GYU-9536 and drove toward Eighth Avenue. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-577-TIPS.

No arrests have been made.
