BROOKLYN - Family and friends gathered to mourn the death of an Orthodox rabbi from Crown Heights who was shot in Florida over the weekend.

Hundreds of people lined up in front of the Chabad Lubavitch World Headquarters on Eastern Parkway to remember 60-year-old Joseph Raksin, who they say was a cherished, longtime member of their community.

According to police, Raksin was visiting his daughter in Miami when he was killed by two young men while walking to a synagogue on Saturday. Investigators don't believe the shooting was a hate crime, and say it may have started as a robbery; however, his loved ones disagree with that possible motive.

Raksin was airlifted to a hospital, but later passed away from his injuries. He will be laid to rest at the Old Montefiore Cemetery in Queens.

Authorities have not yet made any arrests. One of the suspects is said to have fled the scene on foot, while the other got away on a bicycle.
