Hundreds protest Atlantic Yards development

BROOKLYN - Hundreds of demonstrators protested against the development of the Atlantic Yards project Sunday.

The Atlantic Yards project will construct a new basketball arena and a dozen skyscrapers. The protesters marched around the Prospect Heights neighborhood to raise money for their fight against the plan, which they believe is in the developers? best interest, not the community?s.

The protesters believe the plan calls for development at the expense of nearby residents.

The Atlantic Yards project has faced many delays, from legal setbacks to financial setbacks amid the recent economic crisis.
