BROOKLYN - Police are searching for a man who they say attacked and robbed a woman at a Bushwick subway station last month.

Investigators say the man trapped a 36-year-old woman by grabbing a turnstile at the Halsey Street station as she was passing through it at 1 a.m. on May 24. According to police, the man then threatened the woman with a screwdriver and forced her to hand over her belongings.

According to investigators, the man was caught on a surveillance camera at the station shortly before the robbery. He is described as 6 feet tall and in his 40s.

Commuters who frequently use the Halsey Street station say they are not surprised to hear about the incident, adding that the subway stop is notorious for criminal activity.

"They should put a stop to it," says Osorio Ricardo. "They should put police surveillance 24 hours because you don't know when it's going to be our time."

Anyone with information about the Bushwick robbery is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
