BROOKLYN - Police are asking for the public's help in finding a man who they say attempted to rape a young woman in Williamsburg last weekend. According to officials, at around 1:30 a.m. last Sunday, the suspect grabbed a 25-year-old woman walking along Bushwick Avenue, threw her to the ground and punched her in the head several times while trying to rape her. The victim was rescued by passersby who chased the suspect away after hearing her screams. Police say the attacker is described as a Hispanic man between 20 and 30 years old, standing at about 5 feet 6 inches and weighing around 150 pounds. He also may have a mole on his face. The man was last seen wearing a gray shirt, light cargo pants and white shoes. Anyone with information on the attack is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
