Hunt on for serial Coney Island burglar

BROOKLYN - Police in Coney Island are searching for the burglar who targeted three nearby buildings in five days.

Police say the suspect first burglarized 2820 West 8th St. on July 12, stealing a cell phone, credit cards and cash.

On July 17, investigators say the suspect struck again, getting away with money, keys and a cash card from 2823 West 12th St. Later that evening, police say the same thief attempted to break into a third apartment, damaging the lock and door.

Since the burglaries have been reported, the management of the Luna Park Houses where the break-ins took place has been working with police. They have put up signs warning tenants to be alert and distributed photographs of the suspect.

Anyone with information on the burglaries is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
