GRAVESEND - A woman?s husband shot her in the head as she talked to a neighbor on her Gravesend street, then turned the gun on himself in a murder-suicide Sunday.

Police say 44-year-old Karen Skellas was estranged from 48-year-old Ioannis Skellas and was going through a divorce. According to neighbors, the victim had recently moved onto E. 2nd Street. The victim?s neighbor was shaken by the tragic event. He saw the hooded man approaching them, but he says he could never have imagined what happened next.

The victim leaves behind a son and daughter. She worked as a nurse. Friends say Karen Skellas was considering getting an order of protection against her husband.
