FLATBUSH - It has become a lot easier for the Haitian community to access various information and services around the city.

The immigrant rights and services manual has been translated into Haitian Creole.

The manual offers a roadmap to health and education services in all five boroughs. It also specifies recent legislation and policy changes such as ID NYC, the new municipal ID program.

City Comptroller Scott Stringer handed out the first copies of the manual to businesses at the Flatbush Caton Market, which currently houses 47 merchants.

The market is a premiere shopping location for Haitians in the borough. Stringer says the manual will be helpful to vendors and shoppers alike.

Stringer says the goal of the city is to help Haitian immigrants understand their rights on housing, voting, bilingual education and more.

Translations are also available in Chinese, Spanish and Korean.
