BROOKLYN - Brooklyn residents found out today that their new basketball team won't be changing its nickname after it settles into Kings County in 2012.

Minority owner and Brooklyn native Jay-Z announced that the team will be known as the Brooklyn Nets during a news conference across the street from where the Barclays Center is being built.

Jay-Z also revealed that he will perform "one, two, maybe three" times at the Barclays Center. Dates have not yet been set.

The state-of-the-art arena will sit about 19,000 people for sporting events and concerts. It's set to open in September of next year.
