Jewish girl says she was bias-attack target

CROWN HEIGHTS - An 11-year-old Jewish girl from Crown Heights says she was the victim of a hate crime.

The girl and her family say a group of African-American boys attacked her after a pushing match quickly escalated, but police say the incident at a park on Montgomery Street was a game of tag that turned into a playground fight.

Police also believe racial slurs that were uttered during the incident occurred in the heat of the moment and were not necessarily motive for the altercation.
