BROOKLYN - A Brooklyn church hosted an organ recital Friday where a world-famous organist played on its recently restored pipe organ.

Johann Vexo, an award-winning organ player from France, played his first concert in New York City on Friday at Our Lady of Refuge Church.

The church introduced its restored 80-year-old pipe organ to the community about six months ago. There are only about a dozen other pipe organs in Brooklyn that are in perfect working condition.

Church members wanted to restore the pipe organ to bring world-class performers to play it. They say the instrument has been restored to a better condition than when it was first built.

The church has three more performances scheduled in the near future.
