Jury selection begins in Mineo's civil suit against city

BROOKLYN - Jury selection is under way for a Brooklyn man's civil case against the city for alleged excessive force by police officers.

Michael Mineo claims police officers sexually assaulted him in 2008 after officers said they saw him smoking marijuana at a subway station.

A jury acquitted Officer Richard Kern of the alleged assault earlier this year and also acquitted two other officers accused of trying to cover up the incident.

Mineo is suing for up to $440 million.

The potential jury members began to fill out questionnaires today. Lawyers on both sides will then go through the forms and select the jury.
