BROOKLYN - Jury selection is under way in the trial of two men accused of a vicious hate crime.

Hakim Scott, 25, and Keith Phoenix, 28, allegedly attacked and beat to death Ecuadorian immigrant Jose Sucuzhanay on Dec. 7, 2008. Prosecutors say the men thought Sucuzhanay was gay because he was walking huddled together with his brother.

The men could face 78 years to life in prison if convicted.
