Kareem Potomont, accused of shooting 13-year-old Gamma Droiville & one other, appears in court

Potomont has pleaded not guilty. He is being held on bail and will return to court July 9. (5/14/14)

BROOKLYN - The 21-year-old man accused of shooting two people, including a 13-year-old boy, last month in Flatbush appeared in court today.

Kareem Potomont is accused of attempted second-degree murder. Investigators say he shot Gamma Droiville in the eye and another man in the leg.

Droiville showed up to the courthouse today with his family, and seemed to be in good spirits. He says it has been a rough couple of weeks, but he is grateful to everyone who has shown him support.

Potomont's attorney claims he is also a victim, saying he grew up around violence and witnessed murder himself. She says he feels bad for Droiville and what the teen has gone through.

Potomont has pleaded not guilty. He is being held on bail and will return to court July 9.
